About Name That Part

This game was created by me, Lucas Mace in 2021.

I was a bicycle mechanic and service department manager around the American Mid-West for over 10 years. In that time, my favorite game that I used to play with my many co-workers had been handing them a small part from a bike and telling them to "Name this part." If the first mechanic couldn't get it, the next would want to try. Then, we'd all probably play for the rest of the day.

I knew that other mechanics in other shops around the planet probably played this game as well, and I wanted to bring the community together.

I now write software professionally and thought that my skillset would be fit for creating this game for all of you to enjoy and complete against your friends and other bike shops.

The shop I worked in while creating the first version of this game used to have potential employees play the game as part of the interview process. It wasn't pass / fail, but it gave us a better picture of their understanding of the bicycle world. If your shop wants to use this game as an interview tool, or if you'd like to use your score as a line on your resume, I absolutely encourage that behaviour.

If you enjoy the game, please share it with your bike nerd friends. This project is funded completely by myself, and maintained in my free time.
